Announcing Blended Learning Course on Policies and Practices for Natural Resource Management

Policies&Practices for natural resource management

Natural resource management is a key to sustainable development, and it is of interest for all nations. It requires proper understanding of policies and practices for solving problems and issues associated with managing the natural resources to achieve both environmentally and socially sustainable development. The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Tokyo Development Learning Center, The World Bank (TDLC), with support from the The Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) are pleased to announce the blended distance learning course, “Policies and Practices for Natural Resource Management” on 14 March – 31 May 2013.

The course covers: Natural resources and sustainable development (Module 1), Governance of natural resources (Module 2), Natural resources, political economy an conflict issues (Module 3), Innovative mechanisms to address conflict issues (Module 4), Mechanisms of trade, investment and regional cooperation in natural resources (Module 5), and Best practices and tools (Module 6).

Videoconference lectures: By international experts from TERI, ADBI, IGES, and other institutions. Eight 2-hour videoconference sessions will be conducted at local GDLN Centers including introductory and concluding sessions. Videoconference sessions will feature the theme topics in the module, and the local session with Q&A, discussion will be available in some countries. Video-conference lectures will be webcast live.

Self-paced study: video recorded lectures, academic article and other handout materials & resources will be available for viewing on the program website for self-paced study.

Quiz, Assignment, tutoring and e-discussion: Provided on-line to communicate with experts and other participants.

Certification: Provided by the organizers upon successful completion of the course.
