Training Program Conducted by GDLN AP and TDLC
Reflecting the dynamic character of the region, Asia Pacific GDLN Distance Learning Centers (DLCs) have continued to expand since 2000, adding new Centers, staff and activities. To maximize the effectiveness of this growing network, a training program was held by GDLN AP and the TDLC from December 5 – 8, 2006 at the Australian National University in Canberra.
In a 4-day program, more than 30 DLC staff from new sites in Fiji, Indonesia, Cambodia, Ho chi Minh City and others participated in workshops to learn how to operate a successful GDLN DLC Center.
Training consisted of 6 modules, including GDLN overview; How to run a DLC; How to plan a videoconference and VC Technologies; How to run a videoconference; Introduction to GDLN programs; and Governance issues and other remaining topics.
“The event was a great success” said the organizers. Interest was high, particularly with respect to technology issues. The ANU DLC provided a congenial atmosphere for bonding between sites in different countries, helping to build stronger links between participants.
Participants provided informal feedback and completed written evaluations at the end of the training program. Preliminary reviews of the evaluations show that the training modules were extremely useful and relevant to DLC operations and business strategy. Participants also provided ideas for future training and suggestions for improvement.
